A Golden Opportunity

Image
We visited Abanindranath Tagore’s farmhouse this afternoon. The serene atmosphere, the tranquil river, the paintings etc.—all created the Paradise on the earth. It was an excellent experience altogether. Moreover, it was a perfect spot to uplift my mood for poetic composition. Manifold people were thrilled to compose a number of creative pieces right there in the lap of Nature. The farmhouse was full of ethereal bliss as if I was dreaming and soaring in the sky. Right then, I got wonder-struck that it was a real feeling actually. The spot bears the witness of the Indian legend. Such a dear delight is indeed required in our humdrum daily life. I captured a few photos at that spot that would gift me an identical experience with Nature through and through, whenever I take a glance at them. I learnt a plethora of lessons there as well. It felt as if Nature was whispering into my ear holes constantly, “Life is full of twists and turns. Nothing can be bitter, provided we ourselves stay t...

Our Art of Living

Image
At the outset, it must be mentioned that we need a stoical attitude to life’s ups and downs. However, the smartness lies in how we deal with them. Likewise, both weal and woe come to us in accordance with how we look at life. That is to say, our aspect and our outlook play a pivotal role in the construction of our philosophy for living life. Good days gift us memories, while hard times teach us lessons. Keeping it in mind, it can be said that everything, even the negative things, has its charms. Hence, what we have to do is to dig them out. Can anything come for free indeed? Do we not have to toil hard to obtain our long-desired goals? We need confidence, hard work, patience, determination, passion, purpose, indomitability, tenacity and so on and so forth. The deeper we delve, the longer the list will become. We should never blame a day. In the light of the discussion, it may be noted that we can gain memorable experiences in the same manner, if we open the door of our mind...

Confession

Image
There must be storms in every life. Well, we all are aware of all such disasters. Still, why can’t we accept such harsh calamities then? Is it so because we are scared to face the unknown? Or is it so because we are too full of the illusions of the world? Aye, it does sound too pedantic to all of us. As years roll away more and more, the mighty truth becomes even scarier to me. Who is bereft of such fear? Sometimes, I fail to behold the world as and when I’m too full of tears. I do, I do feel choked to speak out because of that lump in my throat. I never even know how to combat reality. Honesty makes me confess all this. Still, whenever I stand in front of the mirror, my conscience pricks me so ruthlessly that I become bound to weep. You might be thinking why I whine like this. Actually, we all are in the same tottering boat in some way or the other. That is to say, there is everything in us; however, this life, this world and everything are grey. Things are neither wholly bl...

The Magic of Music

Image
What is there in music that it heals my wounds and all my sores so rapidly? No matter how deep and open my scars are, every kind of pain gets balmed with the magical touch of its wand. Such a sweet touch of magic cannot be found elsewhere, I suppose. Yes, we all do, do love watching tricks of magic performed by a great number of eminent magicians all over the globe. Still, I must say that such an underrated source of magic is truly incomparable. Moreover, it needs no props for magic, no particular time, no specific stage and no helping hands at all. There are times when I feel too morose, I become too frustrated and I am too much down. However, as and when I turn on music, all my pangs, all my sorrows and all my pains disappear so surreptitiously that I can never make out anything about it. I get lost in the world of imagination immediately but permanently. The healing touch of music can never fail; it can never be denied by any human being, because where else can we find such an unadu...

The Keys to Divinity

Image
Many people ask, “How to gain liberation? How to gain peace? How to change our hearts? How to find the heaven on this earth?” Well, so it goes on incessantly. It will be ludicrous enough to say that we all look for peace high and low. Yes, it is the fact, isn’t it? However, we spend too little time for listening to our inner voice. Sometimes, it can be felt that we find a miraculous voice coming out from our within. For that, I guess, we ought to spend some time in solitude. The din and bustle of everyday life keeps us away from self-motivation, self-contemplation and self-understanding. We while away our priceless time for unnecessary works in this way or that. We never even ponder on such things for a moment at all. We need self-awakening; we need self-illumination; we need self-love; and we need to spread such messages to all by being kind to our fellow citizens on the earth. Moreover, we need to follow such a track of life. Who can save us if we deny to be saved? Who ca...

At the Sight of the Rainbow

Image
A little while ago, I chanced to find the majestic beauty of the rainbow up there in the sky. It seemed to be so reachable all at once, but I was proven wrong altogether. That is to say, I was running after the castles in the air as if it was a mirage. Then it was time to come back home. I had to return with a broken heart. Suddenly, I had a thought on it, "We all desire to touch the sky. Who doesn't? All things are not meant for everyone. Oil floats on water." However, right then, my positive self replied, "There's nothing we can't do, because we all are the offsprings of Nature (disobedient though sometimes); we all are made of flesh and blood. So, there is no question of inequity." I became silent for a few minutes. Then I had made up my mind, "Maybe, we can't touch and catch that rainbow, but we can easily behold the colours. Again, can we deny that we can't find it somewhere else as well? Where? Well, as and when our eyes are too ful...

The Magic of Bengal Summer

Image
The scorching heat of the summer in West Bengal does blister you from skin to bone. Thanks to the issues of climate change and global warming, the floating clouds that cause no rain at all add fuel to the fire. Well, you may wonder why this "stupid fellow" is talking like that. Well, the hotter the season becomes, the crazier people get to drench their dry lips. A drop of rain is the need of the day. Conspicuously, if there is drizzle, even though it brings forth a soothing breeze, is not acceptable that much. A drizzle is supposed to increase the heat. Besides, a heavy rain is what the people keep dreaming of. What is most exciting is that everybody, if the rain comes down to quench the thirst, dances in joy, almost literally. It seems so crazy to watch such an expressive ecstasy, but the earth becomes sodden and full of life once again. Broadly speaking, the entire environment, and each and every human being as if regain the lost life. The dreadful summer does try to snatch...

A Matter of Choice

Image
"Why do you not allow me share a few things? I know that all things are not supposed to be shared. However, most irrationally, I fail several times to barricade between what should be kept private and what should be shared with all." So it goes with a masked human being, this so-called modern world needs it though. Things and circumstances are changing day by day and so are we, sometimes gradually, sometimes rapidly. When you get changed, I freak out. Why? Well, don't I know that who's freaking out here is subject to change as well? Where does the problem lie then? We should dig it out, we have to find out the roots that are so deep that it seems almost impossible for us to reach out. Anyway, there is no alternative. If we try to survive, we must get ourselves acclimatised to what has been going on nowadays. Furthermore, if we try to live this life, we need to work out all such problems. In that case, we need to obtain a constructive decision for a permanent solution,...

Volleys of Questions

Image
Who are we? What is our identity? Where did we all come from? Well, which is our actual destination? There are questions after questions that buzz in my mind almost always. Wait! I never think that these questions are my monopoly. Neither am I supposed to think that too. Be it sooner or be it later, at some point of time during our lives, we presumably face such questions as if they are pounding out from our within. Broadly speaking, our split selves, perhaps, play a very significant role in this regard. Years roll away like a moving stone without any moss. Yes, time does, does fly away in the twinkling of an eye. We grow old day by day, but the question is: “Do we grow up or do we just grow old?” The answer is given to us on our own, provided we spare some time to listen to our within. It is very easy indeed to speak like this, isn’t it? Yes, you’re right in thinking, absolutely correct, that I’m no exception to this as well. It takes a lot of ease to speak, but it takes a g...

Why Optimize after Demise?

Image
Today, I am going to share one of my most pondered experiences with you all. We all must die one day. Be it sooner or be it later, we must know that mortality haunts us all at the end of the day. Most irrationally or most surprisingly, we usually speak a few ‘good’ words about everyone. Well, the irony is that we generally do so after the demise of that human being. From time to time, we may observe that death receives the wreath from all of us. How crazy it feels to think of the fact that we usually treat ill with our eyesores during lifetime! The greater irony is that we never stop praising the dead one like a sycophant in his/her funeral ceremony. What’s the use? Life is short, extremely brief; hence, without any further delay, we all must try to live the life to the fullest. We desire to live our dreams, for sure, but when will we learn not to while our time away by criticizing all other people, eulogizing the seniors, poking or bullying the dark horses and all such ugly ...

The Act of Sharing

Image
There are so many things we have to share with one another, right? Well, some of us do misuse this idea of sharing. We say, “Sharing is caring.” The funny thing is that we use the quote in the incorrect context a number of times, sometimes reluctantly, sometimes deliberately. What is our motive behind all these then? Well, do we then take the idea of sharing for granted? It is a matter of misfortune that we, many of us, leap before we look instead of looking before we leap. Why don’t we think a bit deeper? Yes, let’s look back at the opening sentence once again. Let us no more utter, “There are so many things we have to share with one another.” Instead, let all of us utter it a bit differently, “There are so many things that we love to share with one another.” As and when we resolve to speak from the bottom of our hearts using our conscience, we are supposed to bring positive energy not only to ourselves but also to this entire world. Yes, it will take much time indeed. Still, let ...

Our Divinity

Image
I kept walking up and down, up and down, while pondering on what to write about. I had in my mind a turbulence going on. This was so because I, at the back of my mind, was wondering about a topic on which I could write. It was painful from the inside while perplexing from the outside. I need to write something well so that I can publish it in the blog. However, thanks entirely to the Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient, right now I am seated in front of my computer, and, what is more, this is being written all on a sudden and extemporaneously. Broadly speaking, it is never a matter of pride and boast; it is rather a matter of astonishment and motivation. Well, I thank, praise and glorify solely my God for all of these and for everything. Yes, nothing is impossible. It is up to us what we are going to think about, how we are going to feel it, and whether we are going to execute our divinity. Well, we all have some superpower within each of us. All we have to do is to dig ...

The Rainbow

Image
Human life is full of neither joy nor sorrow altogether. It is neither black nor white. Well, it is rather grey in hue. Life gives us tests after tests for the sake of seasoning us. Now, the question is: “How do we take them?” It is surely up to us whether we will take the tests as a challenge to fight back or as a source of negative thoughts to break down. Well, is there anybody whose life is full of weal through and through? Again, is there anybody whose life is woeful completely? We all are aware of the answer to the above-mentioned  questions, aren’t we? There will be sun; there will be rain. There will be light; there will be darkness. There will be ups; there will be downs. There will be victory; there will be defeat. However, irrespective of anything, life goes on. In this regard, it must be noted that even though there is appreciation, there is no assurance that there will be no criticism. Well, why don’t we think that a rainbow steals our heart after the heavy...

Mothers’ Love

Image
Mothers’ love is the most powerful love in the universe. In spite of knowing the fact, many of us, including me, don’t remember this in the real life most of the time. We can find our best friend in her; we can find our first teacher in her; we can find our greatest comforter in her; yet, we give a vent to our fret and pain by blaming her sometimes, or should we say, most of the time. The very fact is that we are sure that we will always be comforted with her loving touch, with her magic of affection. Still, we misbehave; still, we hurt her from time to time. Yes, we say ‘sorry’ to her again and again. Then, don’t we say so from our very within? We repeat the act; we disobey her; we, at times, try to justify our misdeeds. Moreover, it is not the end. It goes on and on day after day. Then, one day, we suddenly realise our mistakes, but it is too late then. Let us all love one another from the core of our hearts as long as we are here. Come, let us all act in a positive way so th...

Fallible Falsehood

Image
Whenever somebody asks me, “How’s life?”, I immediately put my fake facade  on to say, “O, more than perfect! Thank you.” We desecrate our honest selves in the course of lying, in the course of being “smart”, in the course of trying to stay “up-to-date” and “modern”, and in the course of our ceaseless deception. Who doesn’t know that we all are paid back in the same coin? Well, none of us care, do we? It is a disgrace in the name of “humanity” that we nurture a beast lurking from our within. Well, in such a way, we keep nourishing the beast inside us with such love and care that, pretty often, we hardly find a moment to foster our humanity with actual love and affection, and with proper care and tenderness. But who cares for that? We keep pretending every now and then as if we are bereft of even the tiniest morsel of ill attitude. We showcase our happy being, in spite of knowing that none of us are so at all. The more the days fly away, the more the darkness of artific...

Grow Up

Image
Time goes by; it flies away, so fast, faster than anything. We grow old day by day. But the question is – "Do we grow up? Or do we grow old only?" Sometimes, I wonder, "Time has changed; people have changed as well; what never has changed is the facade of human nature." How queer it is that we get changed day by day! Well, our masks are still the same. How pathetic! Isn't it? And it adds insult to the injury in the name of humanity. Why then do we feel morose? Why do we feel cheated? The answer is very simple. We could not, better to say, we did not recognise the inner selves of those people. Broadly speaking, even though we get to know the answer by any means, we all go in vain to accept the bitter truth. Well, we clamour for peace, we clamour for justice, we clamour for honesty, we clamour for truthfulness and so on and so forth. It is evident that we all are none other than a hypocrite, each one of us. Now, if we go back to the question asked previously, we c...

Cold or Pure?

Image
Yes, it’s winter now. The entire town has put on a white robe. People are here, people are there to enjoy fire camps. Indeed, Nature seems so harsh and cold. Still, her white robe of purity can never be denied. Well, how can, then, it be acceptable that the purity of Nature feels so cold, feels so harsh? Doesn’t it sound a bit perplexing? A piece of completely pure gold, for sure, cannot be turned into an ornament, without the addition of some adulteration. Thus, it is a fact, be it acceptable or not, that purely unadulterated substances do not usually seem that much attractive. We utter, every now and then, “All that glitters is not gold.” Things with glow are often bitter indeed. So is our life. The more we grow up, the more the chances of adulteration develop to turn us impure. We must have noticed in our lives and in our societies that purity is not rewarded usually. Yes, it is true as well that our virtues become triumphant in the long run. It is nothing other than our att...

Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' Act 1, Scene 1

Image
Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' Act 1, Scene 1 In the opening scene (Act 1, Scene 1) of William Shakespeare's five-act tragedy, Macbeth , we come across the three weird sisters or the three witches in a desert place. It was a heath. When they met one another, it was thundering and lightning. They decided to meet again in the same weather: "In thunder, lightning, or in rain". After the completion of the First Witch's dialogue, the Second Witch suggested that they should meet after the 'hurlyburly'. She also equivocated that they would meet when "the battle's lost and won". Then the Third Weird Sister expressed her view that they would meet one another before sunset. They finally resolved that they would meet one another on "the heath". They decided to meet Macbeth as well. Thereafter, after hearing their pets' cries, they were about to depart. Right then, they uttered the topsy turvy song: " Fair is foul, and foul is fair: H...

A Bit about Myself

Image
"Now, of my threescore years and ten, / Twenty will not come again", writes Alfred Edward Housman in his poem “Loveliest of Trees”, which, like all other creative pieces in the world, does impart a precious lesson upon all human beings that each man does need to and have to make something new, as and when, he stays alive, since, mankind is encompassed with temporal limits since birth. Like all others, I, too, foster an utmost desire to fructify my dreams in reality. Having lost twenty-seven priceless years in my life, I look forward to wasting no more time, in order to hold my head high and to make a place for myself in the world. Of course, every person is gifted with a talent, but his genius lies in its utilization. That is to say, I yearn to endeavor heart and soul and make the most of it, in order to contribute something to my Mother Earth. It is genuine and true that I dream to be a good writer, but simultaneously, I ought to acknowledge that one's vocation can...

Duty of Both the Sides

Image
Do you trust that media has lost its credibility? Don't you opine that everything is as usual? A few weeks ago, Manisha overheard a conversation in the local train, while she was returning home from her college. Three or four ladies were busy in discussing about the credibility that media holds at present. They believed, “ It is the media that tries to cater spicy news to the people for its own profit. ” One of them said, “ I can make a mention of the accident, in which, the youth was pushed out off the train. Don't you think that the news channels overtly emphasized the issue? ” Sometime later, another lady commented, “ ...but I'm of the opinion that print media is indispensable even now-a-days. Yes, it is true that there's something corrupt in everything, still we can't live without it, because living without media is like a life with no light. ” It became intolerable for Manisha to listen to the ongoing discourse any more. She, abruptly, protested, “ No...
