About Somali Mukherjee

Born in 1993, Somali Mukherjee commenced her literary voyage at a very tender age of hers. Apart from penning poetry of various kinds, she likes venting her thoughts and emotions by means of writing short stories, essays, feature articles and so on. Besides all these, she is an ardent lover of music and of fine arts. She has authored a few books, namely, 'Head and Heart: A collection of poems', 'A Prosaic Omnibus', 'My Little World', 'An Album of Various Moments: An Anthology', 'Beams of the Day', 'Musings of Head and Heart' and 'Tranquil Truths of Life'. At present, she is working as an author and editor for a publication house in Kolkata, India.

Although she is not a recording artist, she has covered a number of English songs only, on social media like YouTube and Instagram, including her cover songs like Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing", Coldplay's "Hymn for the Weekend", various Christmas carols and so on.   Treachery I feel a great commotion within my heart. Just as the restless Atlantic engulfs all up, my heart desires to sink in the absolute abyss. Yes, the word ‘friendship’ is indeed too easy to utter. It is pretty easy indeed to say that I am your friend indeed. However, it is that much hard, it takes that much effort to keep that promise, to fulfill the commitment. It is easy to say but hard to do. But when you are hurt by your friend indeed, whom you indeed believe to be your true friend, it is quite usual for you to feel that nothing matters in this world.   There must be storms in every life. Well, we all are aware of all such disasters. Still, why can’t we accept such harsh calamities then? Is it so because we are scared to face the unknown? Or is it so because we are too full of the illusions of the world? Aye, it does sound too pedantic to all of us. As years roll away more and more, the mighty truth becomes even scarier to me.
